John Fleming - Senior Consultant

John Fleming is an outdoor enthusiast and Wilderness Leader for Paddles in Action. John’s love of canoeing comes from growing up with the Saugeen River winding its way through his family’s farm land. John explored every inch of this river’s bank as a young boy-then braved it’s currents on home-made watercraft before maturing to canoes and kayaks as a teenager.

John has been employed as a youth worker in the Waterloo Region for over 8 years. He has developed a highly regarded photography group for youth which seeks to explore nature and promote the community in which we reside. John is also an enthusiastic oil painter who derives his inspiration from immersing himself in the pure surroundings that nature offers-just as the Group of Seven painters would have. Canoeing past a cottage built by Frank Carmichael of the Group of Seven and paddling through a space which moved this artist to paint so many stunning works such as “Mirror Lake” is an experience that John enjoys introducing to others.  As an artist of Canadian landscapes, John is inspired by the magic of the La Cloche Mountains in Killarney Provincial Park.  To view John's art, go to www.hippiegreenbeetle.com
